Public Meeting on 11/09/2017 @ 2:00 pm, regarding Changes in Chapter 13 Rules, Forms, and Procedures

Wednesday, October 25, 2017

All consumer bankruptcy attorneys practicing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Akron, Ohio are cordially invited to a public meeting on November 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., in my courtroom, Room 260, John F. Seiberling Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, 2 South Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44308 to discuss the upcoming changes to applicable Bankruptcy Rules and the mandatory national chapter 13 plan form, all of which will become effective on December 1, 2017. In addition, we will discuss the attached draft order confirming plan which will used by the Court for all plans presented on the new form under the new rules. Without in any way limiting the potential topics for discussion, I would like to address the procedures and options under the new rules for avoiding liens, determining the amount of secured claims, and the impact of changes in the deadlines for filing claims and other noticing changes. The Court is also considering several administrative orders relating to chapter 13 practice.

I strongly encourage members of the consumer bar to participate in this process. Your attendance at the meeting will be very helpful to the court. If you cannot attend, or even if you can, written comments about the proposed confirmation order and your thoughts and concerns about the new plan form and rules will be of assistance to the court in preparation for the meeting. I ask that any written comments be submitted to the Clerk's Office by mail, hand delivery, or email (mary_knotts@ohnb.uscourts.gov) no later than November 7, 2017.

Alan M. Koschik, Bankruptcy Judge
U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Ohio
